Fall Tip
By Chris Harrison
Fall is slowly but surely
slipping away. Here in the Midwest we actually had our first
signs of winter as the temperature plummeted into the 40's and the
first few scattered snow flakes recently appeared. While we
still have a few weeks of fall left, let's go over a few things you
can do to prepare your yard for the upcoming winter...
-
Winterize your lawn.
This will help build up a reserve of necessary nutrients needed for
the upcoming winter months. Many of your local hardware stores
will offer a fertilizer designed for "winterizing" use, but you can also
do as I do and take the different types of fertilizers left
over from the previous season and combine them to form the last
fertilizing of the year.
-
Continue to clean up any
debris in your yard such as leaves and sticks.
-
Set the blade level on
your mower down one level. This will help keep your lawn crisp
and clean and will help thwart off some of the funguses such as Snow
Mold that can affect your lawn during the upcoming spring months.
Where has the year gone?
It's almost over! Enjoy the remaining weekends we have left!
